The Alternative Party 2008 is a demoscene party and festival of digital culture which gathers together creative programmers, visualists, musicians, designers, researchers and passionate enthusiasts. The aim of this year's party is to showcase the very birth of computers: the Victorian era with steam, Charles Babbage and calculating machines. So put on your finest and join in the fun. [ALT]

Art

The world as we know it in our daily lives is the result of creativity and inventions. Computers and visual arts are just one way to push the boundaries. Alternative Party is all about creativity where people try out new ways of thinking and doing things with their brains and their analytical engines.

The event consists of challenging and original demoscene art competitions and inspiring performances from artists and speakers who have continuously pushed the boundaries such as Al Lowe — the creator of Leisure Suit Larry, Jeff Minter — founder of Llamasoft, and RJ Mical — one of the original creators of Amiga platform. Technology

Visual arts, mathematic algorithms and music are the 3 key components of so called computer demos. Groups of talented individuals challenge each other to be the best. Interested in digital electronics, electronic music, radio, sci-fi, UFOs, digital arts, programming? This is the event you simply cannot miss.

Not only do people show off their productions, but the Alternative Party is also a place where like-minded folk meet. The party is a social event that gathers all kinds of people who are interested in creative innovations, the demoscene, electronic music and everything that is related to the digital world and beyond.
